Formula Used

Total nursing minutes = sum of all left-side durations + sum of all right-side durations.

Total nursing entries = count of left-side durations + count of right-side durations.

Average minutes per entry = total nursing minutes ÷ total nursing entries.

Side share percentage = side minutes ÷ total nursing minutes × 100.

Side balance gap = |left minutes − right minutes| ÷ total nursing minutes × 100.

Total supplement volume = sum of all supplement feed volumes. Average supplement volume = total supplement volume ÷ supplement feeds.

Total pumped volume = sum of all pumped volumes. Average pumped volume = total pumped volume ÷ pumping sessions.

Total diaper events = wet diapers + dirty diapers.

Diapers per feeding event = total diaper events ÷ total feeding events.

Sleep hours per feeding event = sleep hours ÷ total feeding events.

Average interval = total of feed-time gaps ÷ number of gaps. The active feeding window equals last logged feed time − first logged feed time.

FAQs

1. What does this calculator measure?

It summarizes daily nursing entries, minutes, side balance, supplement volumes, diaper counts, sleep hours, feed intervals, and custom target checks in one report.

2. Can I use decimals in durations or sleep hours?

Yes. You can enter decimal values such as 12.5 minutes or 14.5 hours. The calculator keeps decimal precision in the result tables and exports.

3. Do I need to fill every field?

No. You can log only the values you track. The calculator still works with partial entries, although more fields provide a fuller daily summary.

4. How are feed intervals calculated?

Enter feed times in 24-hour format. The calculator sorts them, measures the gaps between consecutive times, then returns average, shortest, longest, and active-window values.

5. What is the side balance gap?

It shows how different the left and right nursing minutes were during the day. A smaller percentage means both sides were logged more evenly.

6. Are the target checks medical recommendations?

No. They compare your entered data with your own chosen targets. They are tracking aids, not medical decisions or individualized healthcare advice.

7. What goes into the CSV file?

The CSV export includes the report metrics and values shown in the detailed results table, which makes it easy to archive daily logs in spreadsheets.

8. When should I speak with a professional?

Use the log to support conversations with your pediatrician or lactation consultant whenever feeding, hydration, weight gain, comfort, or output patterns worry you.
