Enter the sampling rate and the signal frequency. The tool folds the nearest spectral replica into the Nyquist band to report the observed alias.
Formula used
Sampling replicates spectra every fs. The observed component in the Nyquist band is the folded difference between the input and the nearest replica.
- fN = fs / 2
- k = round(fin / fs) (nearest replica index)
- fimage = fin − k·fs
- falias = min(|fimage|, fs − |fimage|) (baseband)
The signed mode reports fimage wrapped into (-fs/2, fs/2].
How to use
- Enter your sampling frequency fs and select its unit.
- Enter the signal frequency fin and its unit.
- Choose an output unit to match your reporting needs.
- Select baseband or signed alias display for your analysis.
- Press Calculate to view results above the form.
- Use Download CSV or Download PDF for documentation.
Example data table
| fs (Hz) | fin (Hz) | Nyquist fs/2 (Hz) | Aliased frequency (Hz) | Nyquist zone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1000 | 650 | 500 | 350 | 2 |
| 2000 | 2300 | 1000 | 300 | 3 |
| 8000 | 5200 | 4000 | 2800 | 2 |
| 10000 | 14750 | 5000 | 250 | 3 |
| 48000 | 30000 | 24000 | 18000 | 2 |
These examples assume baseband aliasing, reported as a positive frequency within 0..fs/2.
