Formula used

Sampling replicates spectra every fs. The observed component in the Nyquist band is the folded difference between the input and the nearest replica.

  • fN = fs / 2
  • k = round(fin / fs) (nearest replica index)
  • fimage = fin − k·fs
  • falias = min(|fimage|, fs − |fimage|) (baseband)

The signed mode reports fimage wrapped into (-fs/2, fs/2].

How to use

  1. Enter your sampling frequency fs and select its unit.
  2. Enter the signal frequency fin and its unit.
  3. Choose an output unit to match your reporting needs.
  4. Select baseband or signed alias display for your analysis.
  5. Press Calculate to view results above the form.
  6. Use Download CSV or Download PDF for documentation.

Example data table

fs (Hz) fin (Hz) Nyquist fs/2 (Hz) Aliased frequency (Hz) Nyquist zone
1000 650 500 350 2
2000 2300 1000 300 3
8000 5200 4000 2800 2
10000 14750 5000 250 3
48000 30000 24000 18000 2

These examples assume baseband aliasing, reported as a positive frequency within 0..fs/2.
