Example Data Table

Example HP Atk Def Sp. Atk Sp. Def Speed Type Legacy Power
Perfect IV spread 31 31 31 31 31 31 Dark 70

Common Grass pattern 31 30 31 30 31 31 Grass 70

Formula Used

Type value = A + 2B + 4C + 8D + 16E + 32F. A to F are the odd or even bits for HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense.

Hidden Power type index = floor((type value × 15) / 63). The index maps to Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Dark.

Legacy power value uses the second binary bit of each IV. Legacy base power = floor((power value × 40) / 63) + 30.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter all six IV values from 0 to 31.
  2. Select the generation mode for your reference.
  3. Choose a target Hidden Power type.
  4. Enter a legacy power goal from 30 to 70.
  5. Press the calculate button.
  6. Review the result shown above the form.
  7. Export the answer as CSV or PDF when needed.

Understanding Hidden Power IVs

Hidden Power is a legacy move with a type based on individual values. Each stat IV gives two clues. The first clue is its odd or even status. The second clue is the next binary bit. Together, those clues define the move type and older base power.

Why This Calculator Helps

Manual checking is slow. One missed stat can change the answer. This tool reads all six IVs. It then follows the known stat order used by the formula. It reports the type, index value, parity pattern, and older power.

Useful Inputs

Enter each IV from zero to thirty one. Use exact values from your game, save file, or breeding notes. Choose the generation mode that matches your purpose. Older games used variable base power. Later games fixed the move at sixty base power.

Formula Meaning

The type formula uses odd and even bits. Odd IVs contribute more to the type value. The weighted total is scaled over sixteen possible types. The power formula checks the second binary bit. It scales the weighted total from thirty to seventy.

Planning Better Results

Use the target type field when breeding. The calculator compares your current IV pattern with the selected target. It also shows how many parity changes are needed. This is useful when you want Ice, Fire, Grass, or another specific type.

Reading The Output

A type match means the current parity bits already create that type. A power goal match means the older variable power meets your target. In later modes, the calculator still shows legacy power for reference. This helps when comparing old guides.

Exporting Records

CSV export is useful for spreadsheets. PDF export is useful for notes, sharing, and team records. Save the report after each test. Then compare several spreads without repeating calculations.

Practical Advice

Always confirm IV order before judging a spread. The formula uses Speed before Special Attack and Special Defense. This calculator handles that order internally. Still, clear input prevents mistakes. Hidden Power planning rewards precision, because one point can change the final type.

Limit Notes

The tool estimates formula outcomes only. It does not judge legality, species rules, tutor access, or game availability. Always check your chosen game version.

FAQs

What does this calculator find?

It finds the Hidden Power type from six IV values. It also shows the older variable base power, type index, parity value, and target type guidance.

Which IV order does the formula use?

The type formula uses HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense. The form accepts common stat order, then handles the formula order internally.

Why is Speed placed before special stats?

The official formula weight order places Speed before Special Attack and Special Defense. This matters because each stat has a different weighted value.

What is legacy base power?

Legacy base power is the variable power used in older games. It ranges from 30 to 70 and depends on the second binary bit of each IV.

Why does modern power show 60?

Later games fixed Hidden Power at 60 base power. The calculator still displays legacy power for comparison with older guides and spreads.

Can one IV point change the type?

Yes. Changing an IV from even to odd, or odd to even, can alter the parity pattern. That may change the final Hidden Power type.

What does minimum parity changes mean?

It shows the fewest odd or even stat changes needed to reach your selected target type. It is useful for breeding or spread planning.

Can I save my result?

Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet records. Use the PDF button for a simple report that can be saved or shared.
