Why IV Bits Matter
Hidden Power looks simple in battle. Behind it, the move uses IV parity. Each stat gives one small bit. HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense all matter. The calculator reads these six numbers. It then builds a weighted value from them. That value maps to one of sixteen types.
Type Choice
The type result can change a coverage plan. Electric attackers often want Ice coverage. Fire coverage can help against Steel and Grass. Grass coverage may punish Water and Ground targets. The best type depends on your team. It also depends on the metagame you expect.
Power Mode
Older games used variable base power. In those games, Hidden Power could range from 30 to 70. Strong spreads were prized because they kept useful damage. Later games fixed the move at 60 power. This made type selection easier. It also reduced breeding pressure.
Competitive Use

Breeding Notes
Perfect IVs are not always the goal. Some Hidden Power types need even values. Others need odd values. A 30 IV can be better than 31. This is common for Fire, Ice, Grass, and Fighting targets. Always test the complete spread before final training.
Reading Results
The type formula value shows the parity pattern. The power formula value shows the second bit pattern. These numbers help advanced players debug spreads. If the result is wrong, adjust one IV at a time. Start with Speed or Special Attack when building special sweepers.
