Calculator Inputs

Enter one KPI per line using this order: name, target, actual, weight, direction. Direction accepts higher or lower.

Example Data Table

KPI Target Actual Weight % Direction Interpretation
Revenue Growth 15 18 25 Higher Exceeded the target by a healthy margin.
Customer Satisfaction 90 92 20 Higher Customer sentiment remained above the planned score.
Ticket Resolution Time 8 6.5 20 Lower Lower handling time improved service efficiency.
Project Delivery Rate 95 88 20 Higher Delivery fell below the intended completion standard.
Absenteeism Rate 3 2.4 15 Lower Attendance control stayed better than the target limit.

Formula Used

For higher-is-better KPIs: Achievement % = (Actual ÷ Target) × 100

For lower-is-better KPIs: Achievement % = (Target ÷ Actual) × 100

Capped achievement %: MIN(Achievement %, Cap %)

Weighted score points: (Capped achievement % × KPI weight %) ÷ 100

Overall achievement rate: Σ(Capped achievement % × Weight %) ÷ Σ(Weight %) for normalized scoring, or divide by 100 when using fixed-weight scoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does KPI achievement rate measure?

It measures how actual performance compares with target performance. When multiple KPIs are used, the calculator blends them into one weighted achievement rate for easier review.

2. Why should I use KPI weights?

Weights reflect business importance. A mission-critical KPI should influence the final score more than a secondary indicator, which makes the summary more realistic for decision-making.

3. What happens if my KPI weights do not total 100%?

You can normalize by entered weight totals or force the score to assume a 100% basis. The summary also shows the gap from 100% so you can spot setup issues.

4. How does the lower-is-better option work?

For efficiency or error KPIs, smaller actual values are stronger. The calculator reverses the ratio so beating a lower target increases the achievement percentage correctly.

5. Why use an achievement cap?

A cap prevents one exceptional KPI from masking weaker areas. It keeps the total score balanced while still rewarding outperformance within a controlled range.

6. What does threshold percentage mean?

Threshold percentage is the minimum acceptable achievement level. Any KPI below that line is flagged as underperforming, helping managers focus on urgent gaps first.

7. Can I export the calculated results?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet reporting or the PDF button for printable summaries and meeting-ready scorecards.

8. Should I use raw or capped scores for review meetings?

Use raw scores when diagnosing exact performance gaps. Use capped scores when you need a fair, policy-based overall score that avoids distortion from outliers.
