Formula used

Basis handling in this calculator assumes EXW, FCA, and FOB need freight and insurance added; CFR and CPT need insurance added; CIF, CIP, DAP, DPU, and DDP are treated as already including freight and insurance.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the invoice amount and choose the declared basis that matches your commercial documentation.
  2. Add freight, insurance, packing, and customs additions only when they are not already embedded in the invoice basis.
  3. Enter the exchange rate used by your internal costing or customs entry process.
  4. Fill in duty, VAT, excise, anti-dumping, and regulatory rates that apply to the product and destination.
  5. Add clearance-related fixed fees such as port, brokerage, inspection, handling, and misc charges.
  6. Use the de minimis threshold and waiver option when low-value shipments qualify for reduced tax treatment.
  7. Submit the form to view the result block above the calculator, then export the summary to CSV or PDF.

FAQs

1. What does this customs fee calculator estimate?

It estimates customs value, duty, anti-dumping duty, excise, regulatory surcharges, clearance fees, VAT, and overall landed cost for an imported shipment.

2. Why does the declared basis matter?

Different declared basis values include different transport elements. That changes which costs must be added back to the customs value and the landed cost estimate.

3. What is preferential duty relief?

It is the percentage reduction applied against the base duty rate, often because of trade agreements, origin qualification, or special tariff treatment.

4. Can this replace broker or customs authority advice?

No. It is a planning calculator for budgeting and shipment comparison. Final assessment still depends on product classification, customs rules, valuation methods, and documentary review.

5. When should I use the de minimis option?

Use it when your destination permits low-value shipments to receive reduced or waived rate-based taxes and your customs value stays within that threshold.

6. Does the calculator support VAT and excise together?

Yes. It first estimates duty and anti-dumping amounts, then excise, then applies VAT or sales tax over the broader taxable base.

7. What are service charges in the result table?

They combine port, brokerage, inspection, handling, and misc fees so you can see all non-rate clearance expenses in one place.

8. What should I verify before using the result?

Verify HS code, origin rules, invoice basis, exchange rate policy, applicable taxes, trade relief eligibility, and destination-specific customs procedures.
