Electronics Batch A Air Freight 185 kg 80 × 55 × 45 cm 4 International $2,045.60
Retail Pallet 07 Road Freight 420 kg 120 × 100 × 110 cm 2 Regional $865.45

Formula used

Volume (m³) = Length × Width × Height × Packages ÷ 1,000,000

Volumetric Weight = Length × Width × Height × Packages ÷ Volumetric Divisor

Chargeable Weight = max(Actual Weight, Volumetric Weight)

Transport Charge = Chargeable Weight × Base Rate × Zone Multiplier × Service Multiplier × Distance Factor

Fuel Charge = Transport Charge × Fuel Surcharge %

Insurance Charge = Declared Value × Insurance Rate %

Subtotal = Transport + Fuel + Handling + Customs + Insurance + Accessorials

Final Quote = max(Minimum Charge, Subtotal − Discount + Tax)

This calculator is designed for planning and comparison. Carrier tariffs, lane contracts, duties, and negotiated pricing can change the final billed amount.

FAQs

1. What is chargeable weight?

Chargeable weight is the larger value between actual shipment weight and volumetric weight. Carriers bill using the higher number because bulky freight can consume more space than dense freight.

2. Why does volumetric weight matter?

Volumetric weight reflects the space a shipment occupies. Lightweight but oversized cartons often cost more than their scale weight suggests because they reduce trailer, aircraft, or container capacity.

3. Can I use my carrier contract rate?

Yes. Replace the default base rate, fuel surcharge, minimum charge, and fees with your negotiated contract values for a closer estimate.

4. Does this include duties or taxes automatically?

Only if you enter them. Customs fees and tax percentages are manual inputs so you can model domestic, regional, or international scenarios separately.

5. What are accessorial charges?

Accessorial charges are extra service fees outside the base transportation price. Examples include liftgate delivery, remote service, inside delivery, hazardous goods handling, and temperature control.

6. Why is there a minimum charge?

Many carriers apply a minimum shipment charge. It prevents very small or heavily discounted shipments from pricing below an operational threshold.

7. Is the quote suitable for invoicing customers?

It works well for internal estimating and customer pre-quotes. Final invoicing should still follow carrier invoices, duty assessments, and confirmed contract rules.

8. Can I export the quote?

Yes. After calculating, use the CSV and PDF buttons to save a shareable summary of the quote components and final amount.
