|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neutral special hit | 50 | 90 | 160 | 120 | 300 | 1.5 | 1 |
| Super effective item boost | 50 | 80 | 182 | 110 | 280 | 1.5 | 2 |

Formula Used
This calculator uses a practical battle damage model:
Base Damage = floor(floor(((floor((2 × Level) / 5) + 2) × Power × Attack / Defense) / 50) + 2)
Then it applies common battle modifiers:
Final Damage = floor(Base Damage × Modifier × Random Roll)
The random roll is checked from 85% through 100%.
The calculator displays every possible roll. It also converts damage into target HP percentage.
KO odds are estimated by counting successful roll outcomes.

Damage Planning for Competitive Battles
Why Damage Ranges Matter
A damage calculator helps players turn guesses into clear ranges. Every attack can roll several values. A move may look safe at first. Yet a high roll can change the result. This matters during close battles. It also matters when planning switches. Good players study these ranges before choosing a move.
Using Stats Correctly
The most important inputs are level, power, attack, defense, and HP. Physical moves use Attack and Defense. Special moves use Special Attack and Special Defense. Stat stages also matter. A boosted attacker can break walls. A boosted defender can survive key hits. Always use the current battle values. This gives a more useful result.
Understanding Modifiers
Modifiers create most advanced battle decisions. STAB rewards moves matching the attacker. Type effectiveness can double or halve damage. Critical hits ignore many defensive plans. Burn can weaken physical pressure. Weather, terrain, items, abilities, screens, and spread moves also change output. Small modifiers can decide a knockout.
Reading KO Odds
The roll table shows each possible damage value. The percentage column compares each roll to target HP. A guaranteed knockout means every roll succeeds. An impossible knockout means no roll reaches enough damage. A possible knockout depends on luck. Chip damage can improve these odds. Hazards and prior hits should be included.
Practical Team Testing
Use this tool while building teams. Compare several moves against common targets. Test item choices and ability boosts. Check if screens change a matchup. Review whether two hits are enough. Export results for notes. Better damage planning helps reduce risky plays. It also improves matchup awareness.
FAQs
1. What does this damage calculator do?
It estimates battle damage ranges, HP percentages, average damage, and KO chances. It is useful for matchup testing and competitive planning.
2. Does it show every random roll?
Yes. It lists rolls from 85% to 100%. This helps you see minimum damage, maximum damage, and all middle outcomes.
3. Which stat should I enter?
Use Attack and Defense for physical moves. Use Special Attack and Special Defense for special moves. The chosen category is shown in the result.
4. How is KO chance calculated?
The tool checks how many roll combinations reach the defender’s effective HP. It then converts successful outcomes into a percentage.
5. What is chip damage?
Chip damage is prior damage before the selected hit. It may come from hazards, weather, recoil, status, or previous attacks.
6. Can I test screens and spread moves?
Yes. The calculator includes screen and spread modifiers. These options help test doubles, singles, and defensive field conditions.
7. Can I export the result?
Yes. Use the CSV button for spreadsheet data. Use the PDF button for a printable battle report.
8. Is this a full battle simulator?
No. It is a focused damage planner. It does not automatically load move databases, abilities, items, or full team data.
