This calculator uses a practical hit damage model for build comparison. It is not a replacement for exact in-game simulation. It helps you compare changes in base damage, scaling, critical chance, mitigation, and uptime.

Why Damage Math Matters

Damage planning is important in Path of Exile. Small changes can create large gains. A ring, jewel, flask, curse, aura, or support gem may shift total damage. Base Damage Comes First

Every hit starts with a base value. Weapons use weapon damage. Spells use skill damage. Added flat damage then joins the base. Added damage effectiveness controls how much of that flat value applies. Strong base damage improves every later multiplier. This is why weapon upgrades often feel powerful.

Increased And More Damage

Increased damage usually stacks into one large pool. More damage works as a separate multiplier in this tool. Support gems, buffs, and conditional effects often use this style. The calculator lets you combine them into one field. This gives a clean comparison between setups.

Critical Scaling

Critical chance and critical multiplier can raise average hit damage. The tool calculates normal hit, critical hit, and average critical factor. This helps you see whether more chance or more multiplier is better. Accuracy also matters for attack builds. Missed hits reduce average output.

Enemy Mitigation

Monsters reduce incoming damage through resistance or physical reduction. Penetration and exposure lower effective resistance. Overwhelm lowers physical reduction in this model. Negative resistance can increase final damage. High mitigation can make a large tooltip feel weak. Always test against realistic enemy values.

DPS And Uptime

Damage per second depends on hit rate. It also depends on uptime. Temporary buffs rarely stay active forever. The uptime field makes estimates more practical. Target count shows total area output. Use single target DPS for bosses. Use multi target DPS for mapping.

2. Is this exact for every Path of Exile build?

No. It is a practical planning tool. Complex conversions, ailment rules, triggered skills, minions, and special item mechanics may need deeper simulation.

3. What is added damage effectiveness?

It controls how much added flat damage applies to a skill. A 100% value applies all added flat damage. A lower value applies less.

4. How should I enter more damage?

Combine your main more damage effects into one percentage. For detailed stacking, multiply separate more effects first, then convert the final gain.

5. How does critical multiplier affect results?

The calculator multiplies critical hits by your critical multiplier. It then averages that bonus using your critical chance.

6. What resistance value should I use?

Use the enemy resistance you want to test. Bosses often need stricter assumptions than normal monsters, especially for elemental damage.

7. Why is uptime included?

Many buffs, flasks, shocks, curses, and temporary bonuses are not always active. Uptime gives a more realistic damage estimate.

8. Can I export the result?
