Example Data Table

Pokemon HP Attack Defense Sp. Attack Sp. Defense Speed Total
Fast Sweeper Sample 70 115 65 105 70 125 550
Defensive Wall Sample 110 65 120 60 115 40 510

Formula Used

Base Stat Total: HP + Attack + Defense + Special Attack + Special Defense + Speed.

Mean: Base Stat Total / 6.

Range: Highest Base Stat - Lowest Base Stat.

Variance: Sum of squared stat differences from the mean / 6.

Standard Deviation: Square root of variance.

Balance Score: 100 - ((Standard Deviation / Mean) × 100). The result is limited between 0 and 100.

HP Final Stat: floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV / 4)) × Level) / 100) + Level + 10.

Other Final Stats: floor((floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV / 4)) × Level) / 100) + 5) × Nature).

How to Use This Calculator

Pokemon Base Stat Planning

A Pokemon base stat calculator helps trainers read a spread. It shows how six numbers shape performance. The total is useful, but the spread matters more. A creature with high Speed and Attack plays differently from one with strong defenses. This tool gives both views. It totals the stats, then reviews balance, range, average, variance, and standard deviation.

Why Base Stats Matter

Base stats are the starting values behind final battle stats. Level, effort points, individual values, and nature adjust them. Still, the base spread tells the design story. High HP supports bulk. High Attack supports physical damage. High Special Attack supports special damage. High Speed supports early moves. Defense and Special Defense show where hits are handled best.

Statistical Reading

Statistics make comparison easier. The mean shows the average strength of the spread. The median reduces the effect of one extreme stat. Range shows how uneven the spread is. Variance and standard deviation show dispersion. A lower deviation means balanced performance. A higher deviation means a specialized role. The calculator also creates a balance score. It rewards even spreads and warns when one stat dominates.

Role Analysis

The role estimate is a guide, not a rule. It checks the strongest areas. Attack and Special Attack form offensive pressure. Defense, Special Defense, and HP form bulk. Speed controls tempo. When offense is high and Speed is strong, the role may be sweeper. When bulk is high, the role may be wall. When all values are close, the role may be balanced.

Using Results Wisely

Use the output for planning teams, not replacing testing. Compare two creatures by total, average, and role. Then inspect weak points. A high total can still hide poor Speed. A fast creature can still fall quickly. CSV export helps spreadsheet review. PDF export helps store a report. The example table gives sample spreads for practice.

Good Team Planning

Strong teams mix roles. Add fast attackers, sturdy defenders, and flexible pivots. Look for coverage across physical and special sides. Check Speed gaps before battles. Review balance score when choosing generalists. Review top stat when choosing specialists. The calculator gives a structured first pass. Final choices depend on moves, typing, ability, format, and strategy.

FAQs

What is a Pokemon base stat total?

It is the sum of HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. It gives a quick view of overall raw stat strength.

Does a higher total always mean better performance?

No. A high total can be poorly distributed. Typing, ability, moves, item choice, and battle format can matter more than total alone.

What does the balance score show?

It shows how even the stat spread is. A higher score means the six base stats are closer together. A lower score means specialization.

Why does the calculator include standard deviation?

Standard deviation measures spread from the average. It helps identify whether a Pokemon is balanced, specialized, bulky, fast, or offensively focused.

What are EV and IV values?

EV means effort value. IV means individual value. They modify final stats at a chosen level and help estimate battle-ready numbers.

How does nature affect final stats?

A nature can raise one non-HP stat by ten percent and lower another by ten percent. Neutral choices leave stats unchanged.

Can I export the result?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet data. Use the PDF button for a simple printable report.

Is the role estimate final?

No. It is a statistical guide. Real battle roles depend on movepool, typing, ability, team support, item, and ruleset.
