Formula Used

HP Formula

HP = floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV ÷ 4)) × Level) ÷ 100) + Level + 10

Other Stat Formula

Stat = floor((floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV ÷ 4)) × Level) ÷ 100) + 5) × Nature)

Battle Stage Formula

Positive stage = (2 + stage) ÷ 2. Negative stage = 2 ÷ (2 - stage). The calculator also applies item, ability, field, and burn modifiers for battle adjusted values.

Gen Four Stat Planning Guide

Build Clearer Team Roles

A Gen Four stat plan works best when every number supports a role. Fast attackers need Speed first. Bulky tanks need HP and defensive values. Mixed attackers need careful splits because EV points are limited. This calculator keeps those choices visible. You can compare the final stat, the battle adjusted stat, and the remaining EV space in one view.

Balance IVs, EVs, and Nature

IVs are fixed quality values. EVs are training values. Nature is a personality modifier that raises one non-HP stat and lowers another. A good nature often adds more value than a small EV change. For example, Jolly helps fast physical attackers. Modest helps special attackers. Bold supports physical defense. Calm supports special defense.

Understand the EV Limit

Gen Four uses a 510 total EV limit. Each stat can hold up to 255 EVs, yet only groups of four increase a stat point at level 100. That means 252 is usually cleaner than 255. It avoids wasted points and leaves room for a small boost elsewhere. The calculator shows the divided EV value so wasted points are easier to spot.

Use Battle Stages Carefully

Battle stages change stats during combat. A plus two Attack boost doubles Attack. A minus one Defense drop reduces Defense to two thirds. These changes can decide damage ranges, switching safety, and revenge kill chances. Add item and ability multipliers only when they apply to your exact battle condition.

Compare Before Training

Use the example table as a starting point, not a rule. Different teams need different spreads. A slower wall may invest more in defenses. A sweeper may need exact Speed to beat a threat. Run several versions before training. Export the best result, save it, and compare it with teammates before finalizing your Gen Four build.

FAQs

What does this calculator measure?

It calculates Gen Four HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, and Speed from base stats, IVs, EVs, level, and nature.

Does nature affect HP?

No. Nature never changes HP. It only raises one non-HP stat by 10% and lowers another non-HP stat by 10%.

Why does the calculator divide EVs by four?

Gen Four stat formulas use floor(EV ÷ 4). At level 100, four EVs usually equal one extra stat point.

What is the maximum EV total?

The usual Gen Four total EV limit is 510. A single stat can hold up to 255 EVs, though 252 is often cleaner.

What are battle stages?

Battle stages are temporary stat changes from moves or effects. They range from -6 to +6 for normal combat stats.

Can I calculate Shedinja HP?

Yes. Enable the Shedinja HP rule. It forces HP to 1, matching Shedinja’s special HP behavior.

What do item and ability multipliers do?

They apply custom multipliers to battle adjusted stats. Use 1 when no item, ability, or field change should apply.

Can I export the result?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet data or the PDF button for a simple saved report.
