Formula Used
The calculator uses a weighted statistical model. It does not copy exact game simulation values. It compares build quality from talent spread, combat stats, mana support, and role priority.
Allowed points: level minus 9, capped at 61.
Hit efficiency: minimum of entered hit and 16, divided by 16.
Mana coverage: effective mana divided by estimated fight mana need.
Weighted score: each index is multiplied by its weight. The total is divided by all weights.
Efficiency per point: weighted build score divided by spent talent points.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your character level and talent points in Arcane, Fire, and Frost.
- Add your main combat stats, including spell power, hit, crit, haste, intellect, spirit, and mana regeneration.
- Select important talents such as Presence of Mind, Combustion, Icy Veins, Ice Barrier, and Water Elemental.

Why Talent Scores Matter
A mage talent build can look strong on paper, yet perform poorly in a chosen role. A raid build often needs damage, hit value, mana control, and stable casting. A PvP build needs survival, burst windows, slows, shields, and control. This calculator brings those ideas into one score.
Understanding the Three Trees
Arcane usually rewards mana tools, burst timing, and flexible utility. Fire gives high damage pressure through critical scaling. Frost gives control, safety, and reliable play in difficult pulls. Many players mix trees. A hybrid build is useful when one tree cannot cover every goal.
Using Weights Correctly
The weight fields are important. They let you decide what matters most. For raids, raise the DPS and utility weights. For long fights, raise mana weight. For PvP, raise control and survival. For farming, use a balanced mix of mana, control, and survival.
Reading the Result
The weighted score is a comparison number. It is not a guaranteed damage meter result. Gear, encounter movement, buffs, player skill, and target resistance can change real output. Still, the score helps you compare builds quickly.
Hit and Mana Notes
Hit has a useful cap in the model. Extra hit above the cap is shown as over hit. Mana coverage estimates whether your pool and regeneration can support the fight length. If mana coverage is low, reduce average mana cost, add regeneration, or increase mana related talents.
Best Practical Use
Run several builds with the same gear values. Change only the talent points and selected talents. Then compare the weighted score and efficiency per point. This method gives a cleaner view of build quality. It also helps identify wasted points, weak synergy, and poor role alignment before you respec.
