Formula Used
CIF: 0 added again.
FOB: Freight + Insurance.
EXW: Origin Charges + Freight + Insurance.
Customs Value = Invoice Value + Transport Additions + Assists/Commissions + Other Customs Additions
Customs Value Local = Customs Value Foreign × Exchange Rate
Basic Duty = Duty Base × (Basic Duty Rate ÷ 100)
Preferential Relief = Basic Duty × (Preferential Reduction Rate ÷ 100)
Net Duty = Basic Duty − Preferential Relief
Additional Duty = Duty Base × (Additional Duty Rate ÷ 100)
Excise Base = Duty Base + Net Duty + Additional Duty
Excise = Excise Base × (Excise Rate ÷ 100)
VAT Base = Duty Base + Net Duty + Additional Duty + Excise + Anti-Dumping Duty [+ Port Surcharge if selected]
VAT = VAT Base × (VAT Rate ÷ 100)
Clearance Fees = Broker Fee + Inspection Fee + Documentation Fee
Total Import Charges = Taxes + Port Surcharge + Clearance Fees
Landed Cost = Duty Base + Total Import Charges

FAQs
1. What does this estimator calculate?
It estimates customs value, basic duty, additional duty, VAT or GST, anti-dumping duty, clearance fees, and total landed cost.
2. Why does shipment basis matter?
Different trade terms include different cost elements. CIF already includes freight and insurance, while FOB and EXW usually need extra additions.
3. Is this result legally binding?
No. It is a planning estimate. Final assessment depends on tariff classification, origin proof, customs valuation rules, and local regulations.
4. When should I use preferential reduction?
Use it when a valid trade agreement, origin certificate, or special tariff concession reduces the standard customs duty rate.
5. What is the de minimis threshold?
It is the low-value limit below which some jurisdictions waive percentage-based duties or taxes. Rules differ by country and product type.
6. Does the calculator include broker and inspection charges?
Yes. Fixed clearance costs are added separately so your landed cost estimate better reflects the actual release and handling expense.
7. Can I use it for anti-dumping cases?
Yes. Enter the anti-dumping percentage when applicable. The tool adds it to the tax stack before calculating the final import burden.
8. Why is landed cost higher than duty alone?
Landed cost includes customs value, all import taxes, port surcharges, and clearance fees. Duty is only one part of the full cost.
