Formula used
The sweep is typically cut slightly shorter than the door width to prevent end binding. This calculator uses a configurable trim model:
Sweep Length per Leaf (L) = Leaf Width − 2×End Clearance + 2×Side Extension + Extra Length
Total Length = L × Number of Leaves
Total Including Waste = Total Length × (1 + Waste% / 100)
For double doors, leaves = 2 × door sets. If you enter total pair width, the leaf width is half.
How to use
- Select your unit (mm or in) and door configuration.
- Choose whether the width you entered is leaf width or total pair width.
- Enter the door width and the number of doors or pairs.
- Set end clearance to keep the sweep from rubbing the jamb.
- Add side extension or extra length if your product requires it.
- Include a waste factor for spares and cutting losses.
- Press Calculate, then download CSV or PDF if needed.
