Typical Slab/Sheet Sizes and Coverage
Approximate stock dimensions; verify actual availability with your supplier.
| Material | Typical size (in) | Area (sq ft) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laminate sheet | 48 × 96 | 32.00 | Common for straight runs; seams on corners. |
| Quartz slab | 65 × 120 (varies) | 54.17 | Engineered stone; consistent patterning. |
| Granite slab | 65 × 110 (varies) | 49.65 | Natural stone; pattern matching increases waste. |
| Butcher block panel | 25 × 96 | 16.67 | Often prefinished; ideal for islands and runs. |
| Solid surface sheet | 30 × 144 | 30.00 | Thermoformable; integrated sinks possible. |

Formula Used
- Convert all lengths to feet: in ÷ 12; cm ÷ 30.48.
- Segment area = Σ(
lengthi × widthi). - Cutouts area = Σ(
length × width) subtracted from segments. - Backsplash area =
total length × height. - Overhang area =
overhang width × exposed edge length. - Net before waste =
segments − cutouts + backsplash + overhang. - Final area =
net × (1 + total waste % ÷ 100). - Cost =
final area × price per square foot.
How to Use
- Select units and a material preset or set your own price.
- Add rectangular segments for each run; enter length and width.
- Add cutouts for sinks, hobs, etc., with their opening sizes.
- Enter backsplash length and height, if included.
- Enter overhang width and exposed edge length to include the lip.
- Adjust waste percentages to suit material and edge profile.
- Press Calculate, then export CSV or PDF for records.
