Example Data Table
These sample cases show typical rise/run inputs and outputs.
| Case | Rise | Run | Grade (%) | Angle (deg) | Ratio (rise:run) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Site ramp | 0.60 | 12.00 | 5.0000 | 2.8624 | 1 : 20.000 |
| Drainage fall | -0.25 | 10.00 | -2.5000 | -1.4321 | 1 : 40.000 |
| Access road | 1.50 | 30.00 | 5.0000 | 2.8624 | 1 : 20.000 |
Formula Used
- Slope = Rise / Run
- Grade (%) = (Rise / Run) * 100
- Angle (deg) = arctan(Rise / Run) * 180 / pi
- Ratio (rise:run) is shown as 1 : (Run per 1 Rise).
Negative rise produces a downward grade and negative angle.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select what you know: rise/run, elevations, percent, or angle.
- Enter values in consistent units (m or ft).
- Press Calculate to view results above the form.
- Use Download CSV or Download PDF to share outputs.
- Use Reset to start a new scenario.
For elevations, rise is End minus Start. For percent/angle, add an optional run to estimate rise and slope length.
