Formula Used

1. Discounted net unit price
Discounted Net Price = Base Net Price − Discount

2. Product VAT amount
Product VAT = Discounted Net Price × (VAT Rate ÷ 100)

3. Product VAT-inclusive unit price
Product Gross Price = Discounted Net Price + Product VAT

4. Shipping and extra fee VAT
Shipping VAT = Shipping Net × (Shipping VAT Rate ÷ 100)
Other Fee VAT = Other Fee Net × (Other Fee VAT Rate ÷ 100)

5. Order total before rounding
Order Gross Total = (Product Gross Price × Quantity) + Shipping Gross + Other Fee Gross

6. Profit and margin
Profit = Final Gross Total − (Cost Per Unit × Quantity)
Margin % = Profit ÷ Final Gross Total × 100

7. Markup on cost
Markup % = Profit ÷ Total Cost × 100

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does VAT-inclusive price mean?

It means the displayed selling price already includes value-added tax. Customers see the final payable amount instead of a separate tax being added later.

2. Can I use different VAT rates for shipping?

Yes. The calculator lets you assign a separate VAT rate to shipping. This helps when delivery charges are taxed differently from the product itself.

3. Does the calculator support fixed and percentage discounts?

Yes. You can reduce the base net price using either a percentage discount or a fixed monetary discount before VAT is calculated.

4. Why is rounding important in ecommerce pricing?

Rounding affects checkout totals, displayed product prices, and invoice consistency. Small rounding changes can create order-level differences, especially at high volumes.

5. Can this tool help with profit analysis?

Yes. Enter your cost per unit to estimate order profit, margin on gross sales, and markup on cost using the calculated VAT-inclusive totals.

6. Should VAT be applied before or after discount?

In many cases, VAT is applied after the selling price is reduced by the discount. Rules vary by jurisdiction, so confirm your local tax treatment.

7. Can I export the results?

Yes. The page includes CSV and PDF download buttons so you can save the result summary for pricing reviews, quotes, or internal reporting.

8. Is this useful for marketplaces and direct stores?

Yes. It works for product pages, carts, marketplace listings, wholesale quotes, and direct-to-consumer stores that need tax-inclusive price visibility.
