Formula Used

1. Base room total
Base Room Total = Base Nightly Rate × Rooms × Nights
2. Seasonal room total
Seasonal Room Total = Base Room Total × Seasonal Multiplier
3. Weekend surcharge
Weekend Surcharge = (Base Nightly Rate × Seasonal Multiplier) × Weekend Premium % × Weekend Nights × Rooms
4. Ancillary charges
Ancillary Total = Extra Guest Charges + Breakfast + Parking + Cleaning + Package Add-on
5. Margin and quote
Subtotal Before Margin = Seasonal Room Total + Weekend Surcharge + Ancillary Total
Margin Amount = Subtotal Before Margin × Target Margin %
Quoted Subtotal = Subtotal Before Margin + Margin Amount
6. Discount, service, and tax
After Discount = Quoted Subtotal − Discount Amount
Service Charge = After Discount × Service Charge %
Tax Amount = (After Discount + Service Charge) × Tax %

FAQs

1. What does the base nightly rate represent?

It is the starting room price before seasonality, weekend premiums, extras, discounts, taxes, and service charges. Use your standard sell rate or internal pricing floor.

2. How should I use the seasonal multiplier?

Enter 1.00 for normal periods, above 1.00 for peak demand, and below 1.00 for off-season adjustments. It scales the room component before weekend surcharges.

3. Does weekend premium apply to every night?

No. It applies only to the weekend nights you enter. This helps you reflect Friday and Saturday demand without inflating weekday pricing.

4. How are extra guest charges calculated?

The calculator compares total guests with included guests across all rooms. Guests above that allowance are billed using the extra guest fee for each night stayed.

5. Should taxes be entered before or after discounts?

This setup applies discounts first, then adds service charge, then calculates tax on the discounted taxable amount. That mirrors many hospitality pricing workflows.

6. What is the difference between margin and commission?

Margin is an added markup target inside your quote. Commission is an expected deduction from the final quote when a booking channel takes a percentage.

7. What does ADR mean in the results?

ADR stands for average daily rate. Here it is shown as total guest quote divided by total room nights, helping you compare pricing efficiency across stays.

8. Can I use this for packages and bundled offers?

Yes. Use the package add-on field to include per-room bundled value, such as welcome amenities, transfers, event access, or special promotions.
