Several related number-line formulas support the tool. These formulas measure spacing, locate centers, and transform points visually.
Range End − Range Start|A − B|(A + B) / 2Interval End − Interval StartA + Shiftc + Scale × (A − c)2c − A((Value − Range Start) / Span) × 100It plots points, intervals, midpoint, translated values, scaled values, and reflections. It also reports span, tick count, and relative positions.
Distance measures separation, not direction. Absolute value guarantees a nonnegative result even when Point A is greater than Point B.
The calculator reorders them internally, so the smaller value becomes the interval start. A note appears to explain the adjustment.
Scaling is performed about the chosen center point. A scale factor above one moves A farther from the center, while smaller positive values move it closer.
Reflection uses the center point as a mirror line on the number line. The reflected value lands the same distance from the center on the opposite side.
When too many ticks are present, the chart reduces visible labels to keep the graph readable. All calculations still use the full step pattern.
Yes. The tool accepts decimals, fractions entered as decimals, and negative values for ranges, points, interval bounds, shifts, and centers.
They export the entered inputs and the calculated results. This makes the page useful for assignments, lesson notes, revision sheets, and reports.
