| Scenario | Inputs | Result summary |
|---|---|---|
| Standard start | Height 170 cm, Weight 70 kg, Dose 1.3 mg/m², SC, Days 1/4/8/11 | Calculates BSA, per-dose mg, per-cycle mg, and mL estimate. |
| Hepatic adjustment | BSA 1.80 m², Dose 1.3 mg/m², Moderate/severe hepatic status | Suggests 0.7 mg/m² starting dose and updates totals. |
| Neuropathy modification | BSA 1.65 m², Grade 2 neuropathy, Weekly schedule | Suggests 1.0 mg/m² and supports weekly totals. |
Bortezomib is commonly expressed as mg per square meter. This calculator converts that intensity into a patient‑specific milligram dose using Mosteller body surface area and then summarizes dose totals across cycles. Changing weight, height, or directly entered BSA shifts the final mg value linearly, so even small measurement updates can move the per‑dose amount and vial usage. Rounding can be set to match local documentation habits, which helps keep hand‑checked calculations and electronic notes consistent across cycles.
Standard regimens are frequently modeled as four doses per cycle, either twice weekly on Days 1, 4, 8, and 11 of a 21‑day cycle or once weekly on Days 1, 8, 15, and 22 of a 35‑day cycle. The tool applies the same per‑dose mg and then multiplies by doses per cycle and selected cycles to provide per‑cycle and course totals while reminding users to maintain at least 72 hours between injections. Totals help forecast workload and chair time.
Intravenous and subcutaneous administration may use different reconstitution concentrations in practice and labeling references. The calculator uses typical concentrations to estimate injection volume in milliliters by dividing the computed mg dose by mg/mL. This volume estimate supports workflow planning, but it does not replace local preparation instructions, stability limits, or syringe selection rules.
To support safer starting points, the tool can suggest reductions when moderate or severe hepatic impairment is selected, and it can display common neuropathy‑driven modification ideas such as stepping down to 1.0 mg/m² or 0.7 mg/m² with weekly dosing after symptom improvement. These are guidance prompts only; final decisions must follow the current product information and protocol.
After calculation, results are shown above the form for quick review and can be exported to CSV for spreadsheet tracking or to a compact PDF for chart attachment. Exported fields include BSA, mg/m² used after adjustments, route concentration, per‑dose mg, per‑dose mL estimate, cycle totals, total milligrams, vial count, and wastage estimate. Always record the indication, day, and cycle with the export for full traceability.
1) Does this tool choose a regimen for multiple myeloma or lymphoma?
No. It only converts a selected mg/m² dose into milligrams and totals. Regimen choice, combination agents, and cycle structure must follow your protocol.
2) Can I enter BSA directly instead of height and weight?
Yes. Select “Enter BSA directly,” then input the BSA value. Height and weight fields are disabled to avoid conflicting inputs.
3) Why does the calculator show an mL estimate?
mL is estimated from typical mg/mL concentrations to help preparation planning. Always confirm dilution, concentration, and administration volume with your pharmacy guidance.
4) How are hepatic impairment suggestions applied?
When moderate/severe hepatic status is selected, the tool limits the starting intensity to 0.7 mg/m² and records a note. Mild impairment records a “no adjustment” note.
5) Are neuropathy dose changes automatically enforced?
The calculator applies conservative caps to the mg/m² value and adds reminders. It does not replace clinical assessment, grading, or hold/restart decisions.
6) Can I download results without recalculating?
Yes. After any successful submit, CSV and PDF buttons export the most recent stored result until you reset or calculate again.
