The model estimates the probability of each class after converting class-specific linear scores into normalized probabilities. One class is treated as the baseline. Each non-baseline coefficient measures change in the log-relative odds against that baseline. Exponentiating a coefficient shows the multiplicative change for a one-unit predictor increase.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does this calculator actually predict?

It estimates probabilities for multiple categorical outcomes using user-supplied multinomial logistic coefficients. The class with the highest probability becomes the predicted outcome for the current predictor values.

2) Why is one class treated as the baseline?

Multinomial logistic regression compares every modeled class against one reference class. Setting a baseline keeps the system identifiable and lets the software interpret each coefficient as a contrast versus that reference outcome.

3) Do I fit the model inside this page?

No. This page applies coefficients from an already fitted model. Fit the model elsewhere, then paste the intercepts and predictor coefficients here to evaluate new cases.

4) What does exp(coefficient) mean here?

It is the exponentiated coefficient for one predictor within one class comparison. It shows how the relative odds against the baseline change for a one-unit increase in that predictor, holding others constant.

5) Why can probabilities change a lot with small coefficient edits?

Softmax probabilities are normalized across all classes. A small coefficient adjustment may shift one logit enough to change the ranking and redistribute probability mass across every class.

6) Should predictor scales match my training data?

Yes. If your original model used standardized, centered, logged, or transformed predictors, you must enter values on the same scale here. Otherwise, results can be misleading.

7) What does normalized entropy tell me?

It summarizes uncertainty across classes. Lower entropy means one class dominates the distribution. Higher entropy means probabilities are spread more evenly, so the prediction is less decisive.

8) When should I export the results?

Export when you want a record for reporting, audit trails, model review, or sharing with colleagues. The CSV is better for spreadsheets, while the PDF is better for fixed summaries.
