Formula Used

1. Add GST:
Taxable Value = (Quantity × Unit Price) − Discount + Additional Charges
GST Amount = Taxable Value × GST Rate ÷ 100
Gross Total = Taxable Value + GST Amount

2. Remove GST:
Taxable Value = Gross Amount ÷ (1 + GST Rate ÷ 100)
GST Amount = Gross Amount − Taxable Value

3. Derive GST Rate:
GST Rate = (GST Amount ÷ Base Amount) × 100

4. Split Tax:
CGST = GST Amount ÷ 2, SGST = GST Amount ÷ 2, or IGST = full GST Amount

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does this GST percentage calculator do?

It calculates GST in three ways. You can add GST to a taxable value, remove GST from a gross amount, or derive the GST rate from known values.

2. Can I calculate CGST and SGST separately?

Yes. Choose the split option and the calculator divides total GST equally into CGST and SGST. This is useful for many domestic transactions.

3. When should I use the IGST option?

Use IGST when you want the full tax shown as a single amount instead of a split. That helps with inter-state style tax presentation.

4. Does the calculator support discounts?

Yes. In add mode, you can enter either a percentage discount or a fixed discount. The tax is then calculated on the adjusted taxable value.

5. Can I remove GST from a tax-inclusive total?

Yes. Select the remove mode, enter the gross amount and GST rate, and the calculator will estimate the original taxable value and tax portion.

6. Why include additional charges?

Additional charges help model freight, handling, or other billable components that should be included before GST is applied to the taxable value.

7. What does derived GST rate mean?

It means the calculator works backward. Using a base amount and tax amount, it computes the percentage rate that produced that GST value.

8. Can I export the results?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV or PDF buttons to export a neat summary for documentation, invoice checking, or quick reporting.
