Inputs
Units: Imperial

Imperial: feet/inches for dimensions. Metric: meters/millimeters.
Extra for cuts due to running bond, returns, odd coursing.
Brick & Joint
Wall Sections
# Width (ft) Height (ft)
Add each veneer-covered wall face. Use net exposed heights.
Openings (subtract)
# Width (ft) Height (ft)
Windows, doors, vents, or niches within the veneer area.
Outside Corners
# Vertical Height (ft) Corner Count
Enter each outside corner's vertical height and how many identical corners.

Formula Used
  • Net Area = Σ(wall width × wall height) − Σ(opening width × opening height)
  • Effective Brick Face = (brick length + head joint) × (brick height + bed joint)
  • Field Bricks = Net Area ÷ Effective Brick Face
  • Corner Bricks = Σ( corner height ÷ course height ) × corner count, where course height = brick height + bed joint
  • Total Bricks = ⌈ (Field + Corner) × (1 + Waste% + Cut%) ⌉
  • Weight = Total Bricks × weight per brick
  • Boxes = ⌈ Total Bricks ÷ bricks per box ⌉, Pallets = ⌈ Boxes ÷ boxes per pallet ⌉
All dimensions interpret units per selection; conversions handled automatically.
How to Use
  1. Select your preferred unit system.
  2. Enter brick length, height, and typical joint thickness.
  3. Add wall sections. Add all veneer-covered faces.
  4. Add openings to subtract windows, doors, or vents.
  5. Enter outside corners with vertical height and counts.
  6. Adjust waste and cut allowance as needed.
  7. Set packaging and price to estimate boxes, pallets, and cost.
  8. Click Calculate, then export CSV or download a PDF.
FAQs
1) What is “effective brick face”?

It’s the visible area each piece occupies including head and bed joints, not just the brick’s bare dimensions.

2) How are corners handled?

Corner bricks are counted per course using course height. They’re added on top of field counts, then waste and cut allowances are applied.

3) What waste percentage should I use?

Typical ranges are 5–10% depending on layout complexity, returns, and installer preferences. Increase for heavy cutting or irregular walls.

4) Does thickness affect coverage?

Thickness does not change face coverage, but affects weight and handling. Weight per piece is used to estimate total load.

5) Can I input custom brick sizes?

Yes. Enter length and height for any format. The calculator adapts automatically to the selected joints and units.

6) How do I account for soldier courses?

Add an extra cut allowance to reflect additional trimming, or use a separate wall row with the appropriate course height.

7) How accurate are the results?

Area methods are industry standard. Field conditions vary; verify with suppliers and drawings before ordering materials.
