Applied on net countertop + backsplash areas.

Summary

All areas in square feet; edges in linear feet.
# Section Length (ft) Depth (ft) Overhang (in) Gross Area Cutouts Area Net Area Backsplash Area Edging (LF) Notes
Totals (countertop): 0.00 0.00 0.00
Grand Area (countertop + backsplash): 0.00
With Waste (10%): 0.00

Formula Used

  • Gross Area (per section) = Length × (Depth + Overhang). Overhang is entered in inches and converted to feet before addition.
  • Net Area (per section) = Gross AreaCutouts Area (sum of sink, cooktop, or other openings).
  • Backsplash Area (per section) = Backsplash Length × Backsplash Height. Height in inches is converted to feet.
  • Edging (linear feet) approximates exposed perimeter: 2 × Length + 2 × (Depth + Overhang) minus any edges against walls (subtract corresponding Length/Depth for each wall edge).
  • Grand Area = Σ(Net Areas) + Σ(Backsplash Areas).
  • With Waste = Grand Area × (1 + Waste%/100).

Notes: This model assumes rectangular sections and uniform overhang applied along the front depth. Adjust inputs to approximate L-shapes by splitting into rectangles.

How to Use

  1. Choose your input units and set desired waste percentage.
  2. Click Add Section for each run, island, or vanity piece.
  3. Enter Length and Depth. Add Overhang in inches if applicable.
  4. Mark any edges against walls. Toggle “Backsplash along back edge” to auto-length, or set a custom length.
  5. Enter total Cutouts Area (sq ft), or open the cutouts helper to compute rectangular or circular openings.
  6. Optionally add material notes per section.
  7. Review the live Summary, export CSV, or print to PDF.

FAQs

It approximates exposed perimeter after subtracting edges against walls. For complex shapes or radiused corners, add a small contingency to the linear footage.

Yes. Overhang increases depth for area and perimeter. Enter overhang in inches; it converts to feet automatically.

Split the L into two rectangles as separate sections. Subtract any overlap if you double-count an intersecting area.

Ten percent is common for straightforward layouts. Increase for patterns, seams, complex shapes, or tight veining alignment.

Yes. Switch the input units control to feet. You can mix modes by converting manually if needed.

No. Cutouts reduce area only. Edge polishing typically follows exterior edges; interior cutout edges are usually treated differently by fabricators.
