Formula Used

All weights compute from Volume × Density, returning kilograms. Dimensions convert to meters internally.

  • Rectangle plate: \( V = L \times W \times T \)
  • Circle plate: \( V = \pi \times (D/2)^2 \times T \)
  • Ring plate: \( V = \pi \times \big((D/2)^2 - (d/2)^2\big) \times T \)

Then: \( \text{Weight} = V \times \rho \), multiplied by quantity and by \( 1 + \frac{\text{Scrap \%}}{100} \). Cost uses entered cost per kilogram.

Preset densities (kg/m³): Carbon Steel 7850, Stainless Steel 8000, Aluminum 2700, Brass 8500, Copper 8960, Titanium 4500. You can override density anytime.

How to Use This Calculator
  1. Select the working unit for all linear dimensions.
  2. Click Add Row and choose a shape for your plate.
  3. Fill relevant dimensions and thickness; unused fields may stay blank.
  4. Pick a material or type a custom density in kg/m³.
  5. Set quantity, optional scrap percentage, and optional cost per kilogram.
  6. Press Calculate to compute per-item and totals.
  7. Use Export CSV or Export PDF to download results.
  8. Save your session to reuse later on the same device.
FAQs

Millimeters, centimeters, meters, and inches. Length and thickness always share the same selected unit.

Yes. Choose any material as a base, then overwrite the density field with your custom value in kg/m³.

Use the Scrap % column to inflate calculated weight by your expected offcuts or wastage.

The calculator prevents invalid ring geometry and highlights the row until corrected.

Add an optional cost per kilogram; the tool multiplies it by the computed weight to estimate cost.

Yes. CSV and PDF exports include the full table with per-row weights and totals.
