Formula Used

General: Weight = Volume × Density. Density defaults to kg/m³. Convert g/cm³ to kg/m³ by multiplying by 1000.

  • Plate / Block: V = L × W × T.
  • Round Bar (cyl): V = π × (D/2)² × L.
  • Square Bar: V = A² × L.
  • Hex Bar: across flats AF. Area A = (3√3/2) × AF²; V = A × L.
  • Pipe (hollow cyl): V = π/4 × (OD² − ID²) × L, ID = OD − 2t.
  • Rect Tube: V = (B×H − (B−2t)(H−2t)) × L.
  • Sheet by Area: V = Area × T.

Waste and packaging are added after line weight, then optional rounding applies.

How to Use
  1. Select profile, unit system, material, and density unit.
  2. Enter dimensions; fields adapt to the selected shape.
  3. Set quantity, waste percentage, and packaging allowance.
  4. Click Add Line to append a Bill of Materials row.
  5. Repeat for all items; totals update automatically.
  6. Save presets to reuse configurations across projects later.
  7. Export the table to CSV or PDF, or print the summary.
FAQs

You can input density in kg/m³ or g/cm³. Internally, calculations use kg/m³. When g/cm³ is selected, values are auto-converted by multiplying by 1000.

Imperial inputs accept inches for diameters/thickness and feet for lengths by default. They are converted to meters before computing volume, then back to kg and lb for display.

Waste covers kerf, trim, trial cuts, and expected offcuts. It is applied as a percentage increase to each line’s net weight before totals are calculated.

Yes. Choose “Custom Density” or pick any material and edit the density field directly to match supplier certificates or grade-specific datasheets.

They use standard geometric formulas with thin-wall assumptions for tubes. Real products may vary slightly due to corner radii, tolerances, or seam welds.

Rounding applies to each line’s final weight (after waste and packaging). Choose from common increments to match ordering or scale resolutions.

Presets are saved in your browser via localStorage. They persist on the same device and origin until cleared.
