Example data table
| Scenario | Garden (m) | Speaker SPL @1m | Placement | Ambient | Goal | Typical recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patio seating | 10 × 6 | 88 dB | Center | 45 dB | 65 dB | 2–3 speakers, 4–5 m spacing |
| Pathway route | 18 × 8 | 92 dB | Two sides | 50 dB | 70 dB | 4–6 speakers, 4 m spacing |
| Dense shrubs zone | 12 × 10 | 95 dB | Corners | 55 dB | 72 dB | 6–8 speakers, higher overlap |
Formula used
- Distance loss: Loss(dB) = 20 · log10(d / 1m)
- Foliage and air loss: Extra(dB) = (FoliageLoss · HumidityFactor) · (d − 1)
- Estimated level at distance: SPL(d) = SPL@1m − Loss − Extra + 10 · log10(N)
- Target minimum: Min = max(DesiredLevel, Ambient + ClarityMargin)
- Coverage estimate: AreaPerSpeaker ≈ π · r² · OverlapFactor
The radius r is solved numerically so the single-speaker level meets the minimum target, including foliage and humidity adjustments.
