Formula Used

1. Adjusted base rate: Base Hourly Rate × [1 + (Extra Children × Extra Child Surcharge %)].

2. Weekly pay: (Regular Hours × Adjusted Base Rate) + (Overtime Hours × Adjusted Base Rate × Overtime Multiplier) + Night Premium.

3. Night premium: Night Hours Per Week × Adjusted Base Rate × Night Premium %.

4. Paid leave cost: (Paid Vacation Days + Paid Sick Days + Paid Holidays) × Hours Per Day × Adjusted Base Rate.

5. Annual labor cost: (Weekly Pay × Worked Weeks Per Year) + Paid Leave Cost + Annual Bonus.

6. Employer taxes: Annual Labor Cost × Employer Tax %.

7. Annual total cost: Annual Labor Cost + Employer Taxes + Monthly Stipends and Admin × 12 + Annual Fees + Training + Other Costs.

8. Effective hourly employer cost: Annual Total Cost ÷ Annual Paid Hours.

This estimator assumes employer taxes apply to cash compensation. Local laws, payroll rules, insurance, and agency contracts may change actual costs.

FAQs

1. What does this estimator include?

It includes regular pay, overtime, night premiums, paid leave, employer taxes, monthly stipends, payroll admin, agency fees, training, bonuses, and other annual costs.

2. Should I enter worked weeks or all calendar weeks?

Enter weeks the nanny actively works. Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays are added separately so their cost appears clearly in the estimate.

3. Why is the adjusted base rate higher than the input rate?

The estimator can apply a surcharge for additional children. That raises the effective base pay before overtime and leave costs are calculated.

4. Are taxes calculated on every cost item?

No. This version applies employer taxes to cash compensation. Agency fees, admin charges, and some stipends may be treated differently in practice.

5. What is the effective hourly employer cost?

It is the total annual employer cost divided by annual paid hours. It helps compare the true budget impact against the visible hourly wage.

6. Can I use this for part-time care?

Yes. Enter lower daily hours, fewer workdays, or fewer worked weeks. The calculator scales the estimates to the schedule you provide.

7. Why add night hours separately?

Families often pay a premium for evening or overnight care. This field lets you budget that premium without changing the base schedule.

8. Is this a legal payroll calculator?

No. It is a planning estimator for family budgeting. Always confirm taxes, labor rules, overtime policies, and contract terms for your location.
