Formula used
1. Weekly hours per child
Weekly Hours per Child = Days per Week × Hours per Day
2. Base weekly care cost
Base Weekly Cost = Weekly Hours per Child × Number of Children × Hourly Rate
3. Overtime extra cost
Overtime Extra = Overtime Hours × Hourly Rate × (Overtime Multiplier − 1)
4. Daily service fees
Meals, transport, and activity fees are each multiplied by days per week and number of children.
5. Gross weekly cost
Gross Weekly Cost = Base Cost + Overtime Extra + Meals + Transport + Activities + Supply Fee + Late Pickup + Allocated Registration
6. Sibling discount
Sibling Discount = Eligible Base Share of Additional Children × Sibling Discount Percentage
7. Subsidy
If flat, the entered amount is subtracted. If percentage, the calculator applies the percentage to the discounted weekly total.
8. Tax credit or reimbursement
Tax Credit = Amount After Subsidy × Tax Credit Percentage
9. Net weekly cost
Net Weekly Cost = Gross Weekly Cost − Sibling Discount − Subsidy − Tax Credit
10. Longer-term estimates
Monthly Cost = Net Weekly Cost × 52 ÷ 12
Annual Cost = Net Weekly Cost × 52

FAQs
1. What does this calculator estimate?
It estimates weekly childcare spending by combining care hours, hourly rates, extra daily fees, weekly charges, discounts, subsidies, and reimbursements into one total.
2. Can I use it for more than one child?
Yes. Enter the number of children, and the calculator scales scheduled hours and daily service fees across the full family.
3. How is the sibling discount handled?
The discount is applied only to the additional children share of the base childcare cost, not automatically to every add-on fee.
4. Why are overtime settings included?
Some providers charge extra when daily care exceeds a threshold. The calculator adds only the extra overtime portion above the normal hourly cost.
5. What is the registration spread field for?
It converts a one-time registration cost into an allocated weekly amount, which helps you compare recurring affordability more realistically.
6. Can subsidy be entered as a percentage?
Yes. Choose percentage mode to reduce the weekly total by a set share, or choose flat mode to subtract a fixed weekly amount.
7. Are monthly and annual values exact bills?
They are planning estimates. The monthly figure uses fifty-two weeks divided by twelve months, so actual billing cycles may differ slightly.
8. When should I update the inputs?
Update them whenever your provider changes rates, schedules, meal plans, subsidy status, or your family care needs change.
